Swim meets are not possible without volunteers - we need as many hands as possible to run both home and away meets. We require that each swim family have at least one adult volunteer at every swim meet they attend.
Training for volunteer positions will be at our Mock Meet on Thursday, December 3rd - please plan to attend this practice so you can learn more about all the options!
At the beginning of the season, a link will be sent out to parents through GameChanger to sign-up for positions for each meet.
Volunteer positions:
Perfect for someone who is comfortable with public speaking! This volunteer announces each event on the pool deck throughout the meet, as well as any additional announcements about meet happenings in collaboration with the officials. Home meets only!
Typically a good position for newer parents - timers stand at the end of the pool deck to time swimmers with a stopwatch or timer button, and record times on the provided clipboard. You get a front-row seat to watch your swimmer in their events!
Also good for newer parents - this timer is not assigned to a specific lane, but they maintain an extra stopwatch for any timers who missed the start of the event.
This is a great way to get to know all the swimmers on the team! The lane parent gathers swimmers to line up on the pool deck for each event. You'll learn to read a heat sheet and get to encourage each swimmer before the swim!
Runners receive completed timing papers from the timers and any DQ slips from officials, then turn them in to the Computer Operator as needed. Home meets only!
Officials remain on the side of the pool to ensure swimmers are following league rules, assess strokes, and disqualify swimmers as appropriate. This position does require training, which will be provided. Front-row seat to watch swimmers!
The Finish Judge sits on the side of the pool deck to record the order of swimmers finishing their event (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on) as a back-up in case there are any timing issues. Home meets only!
Helps set up, sell, and clean up concession items. Home meets only!
This volunteer runs the technology that pulls event times from the timing system - if you can push a few buttons, you can do this job! You also get a nice seat on the pool deck. Home meets only!
Receives swimmer times and approves them in the computer for official meet results and records. Requires some training (virtual session). Home meets only!
Help clean up after the meet - put away timing equipment, take down signage, clean up any leftover trash. Approximately 30 minutes post-meet. Home meets only!
A "SignUp" survey will be created for each meet and sent out through the GameChanger app - sign up for positions there! Each swim family must have at least one volunteer at each meet for swimmers to be able to participate!
